  • Land acquisition and disposition;
  • Registering delegations to appear before Council;
  • Provision of information and service to the public, Council, Township departments, outside agencies, businesses, media, provincial and federal governments on matters relating to municipal government;
  • informing interested parties of The Township of Wilmot Council’s actions;
  • provision of notice requirements under various legislation;
  • provision of secretariat functions to the Mayor and Council including Advisory Committees;
  • Kennel and dog licensing;
  • Municipal lottery licensing;
  • Establishing corporate agreements, by-laws and related documentation;
  • Retention of corporate records;
  • conducting civil marriage ceremonies;
  • receiving petitions for municipal drains and administering the legal procedures of the Drainage Act;
  • provision of  effective municipal law enforcement services

The Clerk, in addition to all statutory functions, is also a Division Registrar for the Office of the Registrar General of the Province of Ontario and is responsible for the registration and recording of deaths occurring in Wilmot and the issuing of marriage licences.

The Clerk is also the Returning Officer for municipal elections and is responsible for conducting the election under the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act. This entails everything from the preparation of the voters’ list and receiving nominations of candidates running for office through to the tabulation of ballots and the certification of the results.

By virtue of Office, the Clerk and Deputy Clerk are Commissioners of Oath.

The Clerk serves as the Accessibility Co-ordinator for the Township.  Please view  the link under Accessibility Standards for further information and the Township’s Customer Service Standards Policy.
