Under the direction of the Fire Chief, Michael Raine, the department is responsible for providing fire services to the residents of the Township of Wilmot.
The Fire Chief is responsible for the administration of the three Fire Stations, issuance of burn permits, the Fire Prevention and Protection Act (1997), the Emergency Plans Act (2002), and providing for fire prevention and suppression services.
The Department consists of one full-time Fire Chief, one part-time Fire Prevention Officer, and 75 volunteer firefighters in three fire stations. A District Chief, a Senior Captain, three Captains, and 20 Firefighters staff each station.
Station 1, is located at 99 Foundry St., Baden, and houses a compliment of fire apparatus including two pump trucks, one tanker and one heavy rescue truck.
Station 2, is located at 55 Front St., New Dundee, and houses a pumper, tanker and one heavy rescue truck.
Station 3, is located at 121 Huron St., New Hamburg, and houses a pumper, aerial truck, tanker and one heavy rescue truck.
The Administrative Offices of the department are located in the lower level of the Municipal Offices, 60 Snyderâ€™s Rd. W., Baden.
Fire Prevention activities include a program of regular inspections, inspections on complaint or request, public education, participation in WRAPP-C (Waterloo Region Arson Prevention Program for Children), and fire investigations.
Emergency Planning activities include reviewing existing plans, and formulating new plans as required.Â The Fire Chief acts as the CEMC (Community Emergency Management Co-coordinator), and participates in emergency planning groups at the local, regional and provincial sector area levels.
