Wilmot
Township Arboretum
General Information
This
5.9 acre parcel is located on Waterloo Street across from Laschinger
Boulevard. It was developed in 1956 as the Waterloo County
Arboretum to demonstrate soil conservation techniques and was the
first of its type in Ontario. This project was sponsored by the
Waterloo County Soil and Crop Improvement Association, W. J.
Schneller, a local farmer and R.A. Forsythe a prominent soil
conservationist. The site was taken over by the Region of Waterloo
in 1973 and subsequently deeded to the Township of Wilmot in 1993.
Special Features
More
than seventy species of native and exotic trees ~ small picnic area
with tables.

General Information
This
0.69 acre site of parkland is located on Hincks Street in New
Hamburg.
Constitution Park, originally constructed in partnership with the
New Hamburg Lions Club, contains one of the most heavily used
playgrounds in the Township.
Special Features
Picnic shelter and picnic tables. In 2005, the Township in
partnership with the Trillium Foundation, the Optimist Club of New
Hamburg and the Neighborhood Association had undertaken major
improvements to Constitution Park, including the addition of age
specific playground equipment, paved walkway, green space, toboggan
hill and landscaping.

This
neighborhood park is a small quiet area to just have fun on the
swings and slide.

Heritage Park
General Information
This
8.23 acre park site is located at 75 Hunter Street in New Hamburg.
For
great scenic views, follow the paths that meander through the park
along the Nith River. While there, take a stroll and visit North
America’s largest operating water wheel. This park is recognized as
one of the most scenic areas in the Township and is a sure way to
relax and enjoy the day. Walk across the weirs ~ come and see the
fish ladder and sit by the waterside and watch the blue herons and
Canada geese.

Kirkpatrick Park
General Information
This
3 acre parcel of parkland is located on Wilmot Street in New
Hamburg.
Kirkpatrick Park is one of the most picturesque parks in Wilmot. It
is located adjacent to the Nith River, which provides a beautiful
setting for weddings & special occasion photos. Picnic tables are
available where you can enjoy a snack or just sit and read and watch
the swans from afar.
This
site is also the home of Wilmot’s Swan Program. The swans are on
site and attract other water fowl to the area.
Special Features
Gazebo, benches, pathway and swan pavilion.

Norm S. Hill Park
General Information
This
22 acre park is located at 251 Jacob Street in New Hamburg is
situated adjacent to the New Hamburg Arena and Community Centre.
Norm Hill Park offers 2 lit softball diamonds and a scrub diamond. It
is the home of the New Hamburg Minor Ball Association and several
other ball leagues.
This
site hosts large special events throughout the year including the
Mennonite Relief Sale in May, MoparFest in August and the New
Hamburg Fall Fair in September and was once the home of the Canadian
National Pacing Derby.
Special Features
A
newer playground with slides, swings and more as well as a picnic
tables and a large shelter for those hot summer days. It contains 3
softball diamonds, concession booth and public washrooms.

Optimist Youth Park
General Information
This
1.33 acre park is located just off of Bier Crescent in New Hamburg.
This
is a quiet but exciting little playground and is used by
neighborhood children to get together and have lots of fun.

William Scott Park
General Information
This
27 acre park is located at 75 Hunter Street in New Hamburg.
Scott
Park, the largest park in the Township is known for its beautiful
scenery and trails - an ideal setting for family picnics. It is
the host of many community events including the Canada Day
Celebration and the home of Wilmot District Soccer Association.
Special Features
Field
house that has a meeting room, concession booth, public washrooms, 2
picnic shelters, picnic tables, 6 soccer pitches, 1 tennis court, 1
multi-purpose court (basketball and roller balding), one volleyball
court, playground equipment as well as a public boat launch to the
Nith River. There are lots of activities to keep everyone busy all
day long.
Scott
Park is located beside the Nith River and is linked to Heritage
Park.
