Message From the Mayor, Les Armstrong |
I am so proud of all of the people who make up this community. Residents of Wilmot have come together to create a community of support. Neighbours helping neighbours and businesses rising to help those who cannot leave their homes. Physical distancing is a challenge for all of us but its importance cannot be understated. To help lessen the spread of the virus, Township staff worked quickly to ensure critical services continued when our facilities had to shut down. Staff who can are continuing to work from home. Although it is not the same as before the shut down and we are having to ask for your patience and understanding, you can still access Township departments and get answers to many of the questions you have. Critical services are the priority and more information about how we are adapting to Covid-19 will be provided as they become available. My fellow members of Council are active with the community, serving you as they always have been. They are showing their pride and love for this community while maintaining physical distancing. Wilmot Township Council believes in the residents of this community and, as always, we are here to serve you. We encourage you to reach out over the phone, email, text, or social media to your loved ones so we can keep in touch with one another and avoid feeling overly isolated. Stay tuned to www.wilmot.ca and follow @WilmotTownship on Twitter to stay connect and get up-to-date information as it becomes available. Stay safe and practice physical distancing. Thank you Wilmot. Essential Construction, Operations and Maintenance Activities |
The Township of Wilmot is continuing to move forward on several necessary construction and maintenance projects that will deliver valuable benefit and essential services to the community. The Province of Ontario supports maintenance, operation and construction to support municipal services that are deemed essential to ensure that these services continue to work properly and continue to meet our community’s needs. The Township is acting consistently with other local area municipalities and other municipalities in the province. Construction and maintenance activities will take place in accordance with all applicable laws including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (and its regulations), and in compliance with advice, recommendations and instructions of public health officials, including as it relates to physical distancing, cleaning and disinfecting. Furthermore, under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, employers must take precautions to keep workers safe, including keeping them informed, creating health and safety policies and procedures and ensuring workers use the right protective equipment. We continue to evaluate and re-assess the situation as required. |
