The Nith River Promenade and Trail in downtown New Hamburg, runs along the banks of the Nith River between Kirkpatrick Park and the Hartman Bridge. This new walkway and trail is an ideal location for visitors to gather for private and community-led events, participate in recreational activities, and see the neighbouring New Hamburg Heritage Water Wheel and Nith River Reservoir Dam.
The purpose of the Nith River Promenade Rehabilitation project is to improve the structure of both, the promenade and the trail, increasing the overall accessibility for users, enhance erosion control, and reduce the negative effects of major flood events.

Public engagement and community feedback are an important part of any Township project. Township of Wilmot staff and the project team encourage residents to provide comments and feedback on the proposed Nith River Promenade concept design through our online feedback form. Members of the public will have until May 2, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. to submit feedback. All comments and feedback are appreciated and seriously considered by the project team and consultants as they move forward in the process.
