The Council of The Township of Wilmot will be appointing members to this committee for the term commencing February 28, 2022 to December 31st, 2022 The mandate of this Committee is to facilitate public input on ideas to assist in enhancing the quality of life of the community through programs and activities that encourage personal and community safety and help prevent nuisance behaviours. There are seven (7) positions to be filled with a minimum of one (1) youth representative (ages 18-25). Human Trafficking Awareness Day |
The House of Commons proclaimed February 22 as Human Trafficking Awareness Day to help bring awareness to the magnitude of modern-day slavery in Canada and abroad and encourage Canadians to take steps to combat human trafficking. MT Space, Waterloo Region Crime Prevention Council (WRCPC), and Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASCWR) are collaborating once again to present a weeklong run of Chelsea’s Story to commemorate and promote Human Trafficking Awareness Day. This theatrical production has been adapted to an online format and will be performed live by MT Space actors from February 22nd to 26th, with each performance accompanied by a talkback facilitated by SASCWR. All tickets to Chelsea’s Story will be free and open to the public, click here to register. Chelsea’s Story is a play based on a true story. All performances are open to the public & families (12+) and will have a facilitated conversation following the play led by SASCWR. Staying Safe |

School Bus Safety |
Every school day, Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region (STSWR) is responsible for the safe transportation of over 30,000 Waterloo Region District School Board students to and from school on close to 635 school bus routes and on municipal transit and in taxis.

Lock It or Lose It |
Waterloo Regional Police Service encourage all residents to keep all doors locked, even when you are at home. It is easy for someone to quickly come in your front door while you are working outside of your home (ex. gardening). Anywhere you keep valuables should be locked. This includes garages, sheds, vehicles and of course your house or apartment. |
