The purpose of the Dog Designation Appeal Committee is to hear appeals of dog owners who have been issued with Designation Orders and Requirements for Potentially Dangerous, Dangerous, Restricted or Prohibited Dog/s, by the Township Animal Control Officer or other duly appointed Officer. The appeal must be submitted in writing to the Secretary for the Committee.
This is a quasi-judicial Committee of Council, meaning they have certain decision making abilities as per the Dog Control By-law. The Committee can decide if a Dangerous Dog, Potentially Dangerous Dog, Restricted Dog or Prohibited Dog designation and requirements order should be upheld, dismissed or modified.
Meetings are held on an as needed basis.
With the term of Council applications are accepted from members of the public who are interested in joining this Committee.
