Due to wet conditions from the heavy rain this week, the Township of Wilmot has closed the baseball diamonds in New Dundee, Petersburg and St. Agatha, as well as the soccer fields and the Wilmot Off-leash Dog Park in William Scott Park. The Township has also closed the Nith River Promenade due to high water levels.
The Grand River Conservation Authority today issued a Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Outlook. The GRCA statement says that rain and thunderstorms are expected for the rest of the day on Tuesday, July 16. Parts of the watershed have received 60 mm of rain during the past 24 hours and another 10 to 20 mm of rain is in the forecast for the rest of the day. Water levels and flows in rivers and streams throughout the watershed are elevated. The forecasted rain, combined with isolated thunderstorms, will increase water levels further.
Please travel carefully, as some roads in the township are experiencing pooling water.
