Public input being collected until August 15, 2025
The Township of Wilmot is developing two new by-laws and is inviting residents to participate in the process by sharing their feedback.
The by-laws up for review include a Sewer Use By-law and an Encroachment By-law.
The Sewer Use By-law is being developed to update and consolidate two related by-laws that were drafted in 1973. The by-law includes new rules aimed at keeping the sanitary system free of obstructions and minimizing inflow and infiltration.
The Encroachment By-law is the first of its kind in Wilmot. It will help residents understand how they can and cannot use the municipal Right of Way – the road and area of land between a road and a property line.
Residents can review each of the by-laws and provide feedback through the Township’s online engagement platform: www.wilmot.ca/engage. Users can click the “Follow” button on each project page to receive updates as staff work through the by-law development process.
Those that prefer to review a hard copy of the draft by-laws are encouraged to visit the upper level of the Township Administration Complex during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Comments can also be provided by phone (519-634-8519 ext. 9290) or email (engineering@wilmot.ca).
Feedback will be accepted until August 15, 2025. Staff will then take all comments into consideration as they finalize the draft by-law and present it to Township Council for approval. To learn more about by-laws in Wilmot, visit www.wilmot.ca/bylaws.
