Please note that all trees have now been taken. Thank you.
Wilmot residents who want to make a positive difference as Earth Day approaches can register to get a free tree, thanks to a partnership between the Township, Enova Power and Let’s Tree Wilmot.
The tree giveaway, called Wilmot Roots, is back after a successful debut year in 2023. Trees were snapped up quickly, making the event a natural for 2024.
The tree registration opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9 and closes April 19, or as the supply of 345 trees lasts. There’s a maximum of one tree a household. The seven tree types include Sugar Maple; Multi-Stem Service Berry; Autumn Blaze Maple; White Spruce; White Pine; Eastern Redbud; and Red Maple.
The tree pickup takes place at the Wilmot Recreation Complex on Saturday, April 27 at designated times for each type of tree. Details and registration are available at wilmot.ca/wilmotroots.
About Earth Day
Earthday.org’s founders created and organized the very first Earth Day on April 22, 1970. Since then, Earthday.org has been mobilizing more than a billion people each year on Earth day, and all year round.
People everywhere are invited to honor and celebrate the planet on Earth Day as a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability, encouraging people to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future.
