The Township of Wilmot must follow the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). The purpose of MFIPPA is to make sure that the public has the right to information about their municipal government and about themselves or their property if that information is kept by the municipality. It also ensures that private information about a person or property that should stay private is kept private. The Township routinely collects information for various reasons but only uses it for specific purposes.
Anyone wishing to obtain information kept by the Township should contact the Director of Information and Legislative Services / Municipal Clerk. She will advise if a Freedom of Information Request is needed or not. The FOI Request Form would need to be filled out and returned to the Director with a $5.00 fee. The payment can be made on line here. Choose the general payment option and enter FOI Request in the payment description.
Students or other people conducting research for various purposes may need to fill out an Access for Research Request Form. Please contact the Director to ensure that form is appropriate.
If you are not satisfied with the response you receive to your request you may contact the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC) to have the request and response investigated.
