Zoning Requirements

The zoning requirements are as follows:

  • 6.32.1: A maximum of four hens (no roosters) may be permitted on a property of 0.2 hectares or larger.
  • 6.32.2: Backyard chickens must be kept within an enclosure that ensures the hens are contained on the same lot as the Residential Building to which their keeping is accessory. 
  • 6.32.3: Any building or structure or enclosure used to house or contain backyard chickens is prohibited (a) between a Residential Building and the front lot line and within any an exterior side yard, and side yard; and (b) within 15 meters of any part of a building used for human habitation on an adjoining lot and within 3.0 meters of any lot line.
