Government of Canada grant helps expand offering of seniors’ programs

BADEN, ONT.— Today’s seniors are living longer and are more active, but too many still suffer from social isolation, according to Government of Canada information.

The Township of Wilmot has received $10,000 from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The funds will be used to add to the Township’s roster of active living opportunities for older adults, including shuffleboard and additional pickleball offerings, for one year.

The New Horizons for Seniors Program is a federal grants and contributions program whose goal is to support projects that help improve the well-being of seniors and foster social inclusion and engagement in their communities.

This fits with the Township’s commitment to provide healthy and active living opportunities to people of all ages in the community through programs and through community partnerships.
