Mayor Salonen hosts sold-out State of the Township event

Mayor Natasha Salonen welcomed over 100 guests to Puddicombe House in New Hamburg on Thursday, April 9, 2026, for a State of the Township event. The sold-out evening was the first of its kind in Wilmot, with ticket sales supporting the local Legion.

The event included a formal address from Mayor Salonen, which highlighted how Wilmot is working to improve trust among residents. The mayor pointed to projects like the Prime Ministers Path, the Service Delivery and Organizational Review, and the 2026 budget as examples of the Township’s commitment to transparency, accountability and long-term planning.

Radio host Mike Farwell was Mayor Salonen’s special guest at the event and led a compelling question and answer period following the formal address. The two discussed the Township’s progress in stabilizing its finances, the organization’s ongoing community engagement efforts and the importance of balanced growth that bolsters a sense of belonging.

The event attracted Wilmot residents and business owners, Township Councillors and staff, as well as politicians, leaders and citizens from across Waterloo Region. It presented an opportunity for Wilmot residents and members of neighbouring communities to create connections while learning more about Wilmot’s organizational achievements.

A recording of Mayor Salonen's address is available for viewing on the Township’s YouTube channel: www.wilmot.ca/youtube.
