Financial Assistance Program

Financial assistance is available for local individuals who wish to participate in Township of Wilmot programs but may not have the financial means to do so. Eligible participants receive credit towards Township recreation programs and affiliated minor sports and arts programs.


Eligibility

  • To qualify for assistance the applicant must have been a resident of the municipality for a period of not less than six months. Proof of residency is required. 
  • Only programs offered within the Township of Wilmot and by Township-affiliated organizations are eligible.
  • Eligible participants may receive program credits up to a maximum of $200.00 per participant per calendar year. Eligibility is determined by the income guidelines chart referenced below.
  • Credits may be applied toward registration fees for approved programs and activities.

Application Process

Applying for financial assistance is now easier than ever through our secure Online Application Portal. If you require a hard copy of the application, you can obtain it at the Wilmot Recreation Complex or the Township Administration Complex. Applications are valid for 1 year. Before starting the application, please ensure that you have proof of income, and proof of residency ready to include with your submission. Acceptable documentation is outlined below. 

Applicants may provide any of the following documents for proof of income:

  • Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment (most recent tax year) showing name and Line 15000.
  • Ontario Works (OW) statement, including address and eligibility card.
  • Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) statement, including address portion.
  • Documentation for additional income not shown on a Notice of Assessment (e.g., child support).

Applicants may provide any of the following documents for proof of residency:

  • Utility bill (water, gas, hydro, internet, etc.)
  • Ontario driver’s licence
  • Ontario photo card
  • Lease agreement
  • Municipal tax bill

Program Funding 

Funding for this annual program is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis through the Township's Community Grants Program. The program is capped at $2,500 per annum.

The amount of assistance will be based on total family income criteria as follows.
