Integrity Commissioner

The Integrity Commissioner is a key accountability officer for the Township of Wilmot. The Integrity Commissioner reports to Council and is responsible for enforcing Council and Board Codes of Conduct


Role of the Integrity Commissioner

The Integrity Commissioner's duties include:

  • Investigating complaints and determining whether, in the Integrity Commissioner’s opinion, a member of Council has violated the provisions of the Code of Conduct or the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act, as applicable, and makes recommendations on appropriate penalties
  • Providing advice regarding appropriate conduct to individuals members of Council and Council as a whole
  • Submitting annual reports to Council outlining their activities with respect to advice, education, and complaint investigations for the preceding year
  • Providing educational information to members of Council, the municipality and the public about the Code of Conduct and the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act

The current Integrity Commissioner for the Township of Wilmot is Ben Drory of ADR Chambers Inc.

Codes of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for Members of Council:

  • Ensures that the members of Council share a common basis for acceptable conduct
  • Enhances public confidence that the Township of Wilmot's elected representatives operate from a base of integrity, justice and courtesy

The Code of Conduct for Members of Local Boards:

  • Ensures that the members of local boards share a common basis for acceptable conduct
  • Enhances public confidence that local board representatives operate from a base of integrity, justice and courtesy

Filing a Complaint

Follow the Complaint Protocol for Council Code of Conduct and complete the Code of Conduct Complaint Application form to submit a formal complaint to the Integrity Commissioner.
