The Dog and Dog Kennel By-law of the Township of Wilmot requires every owner of a dog, before the 15 day of January or within ten (10) days of becoming the owner of a dog, to register the dog with the Township and purchase a tag. Licensing your dog(s) can provide the following benefits:
- A licence assists in the fast and safe return of your pet if it gets lost.
- A licence is immediately visible to anyone who finds your pet and shows that your pet belongs to someone.
- Your pet is returned home faster and/or spends less time in the shelter.
- If your pet is lost or involved in an emergency situation, the licence provides information needed to contact you.
Dog tags for the Township of Wilmot are multi-year tags. The current tags are valid from 2022 through to 2027. Dog owners must pay the annual dog tag fee but will continue to use the same tag. New dog owners will be issued a dog tag that can be used through to the end of 2027.
Dog Licence (Tag) Fees
- If purchased on or before March 31: $25.00
- If purchased on April 1 or after: $35.00
- Replacement tags: $5.00
Dog tags can be purchased in person at the Administration Complex and paid for by cash, cheque, debit card or credit card.
