Township owned Community Centres and the Wilmot Recreation Complex will be closed for the Province Wide Lockdown from December 26, 2020 until further notice. All Township parks, playgrounds, trails, the off-leash dog park, outdoor rinks and other park amenities remain open, however there is no winter maintenance and no sanitizing. The Dog park and outdoor rinks have a maximum capacity of 10 people, please continue to practice Physical Distancing when enjoying recreation.
Skating is great activity for individuals and families. The Township of Wilmot offers year-round skating opportunities at the Wilmot Recreation Complex. Our skating opportunities include: Public Skating, Parent & Tot, as well as Adult and Senior Skates. In the spring and summer we also offer roller skating. For more information on what we have to offer, check out the skating schedules below. To avoid disappointment, please check our cancellation page before leaving home.
If you enjoy skating on an outdoor ice rink, volunteers in the communities of Baden, New Hamburg and New Dundee provide outdoor ice rinks for the public to enjoy. The outdoor rinks will be located in Schneller Park in Baden, The Wetlands in New Hamburg (entrance off Walter Perry Place) and New Dundee Community Park in New Dundee, weather permitting.

- The maximum number of participants permitted is 10. ALL participants must be registered in order to enter the facility, including young children. Customers are encouraged to preregistered for their spot in advance.
- To reduce delays, pre-screen all attendees online at home. Please provide proof of screening to Township staff upon arrival.
- Late admissions are not guaranteed.
- All participants must wear a mask/face covering in public (into the facility and exiting the facility.) Mask/face coverings do not need to be worn on the ice.
- Practice Physical Distancing. Please maintain a distance of (2m / 6feet) apart from anyone that does not reside in the same household.
- Be prepared to enter the facility fully dressed. Dressing rooms will NOT be available. Chairs are available for tying skates.
- Admission will begin 10 minutes prior to the start of your program. Upon entering the facility follow the arrows in the lower lobby indicating where you will access the arena.
- All participants must be prescreened prior to entering. Screening from home will make the process faster upon arrival. www.wilmot.ca/covidscreening
- Participants will have 5 minutes to leave the facility after their program.
- Children under the age of 13 years must be in the care of a parent or guardian.
- Do not bring valuables with you. Only bring what you need. Place belongings in a small bag. Bags must be placed in the designated areas, so they are not a trip hazard. Items are to be placed 6 feet away from other people’s belongings.
- There will be no EQUIPMENT available during your program.
- NO REFUNDS should you not attend your registered spot.
- All skaters must obey staff at all times. This is for your own safety!
- Helmets are strongly recommended during skating. If there are any sticks or pucks on the ice, full protective equipment must be worn by all participants
- All participants must wear skates - NO boots or shoes permitted on the ice surface
- No food or beverages allowed on the ice surface
- No horseplay on/or around the ice surface
- No balls, pucks or sticks are permitted on the ice during any public skating program
- Parent and Tot - "Tots" must be 6 years of age or younger
- Adult and Senior - ALL skaters must be 18 or older
- Children cannot be carried while you are on the ice surface
- Skate with the direction of all skaters
- No one is allowed on the ice until the resurfacer has finished and the gate is closed
Wheelchairs/Sledges - Wheelchairs, wheelchair skates and sledges are welcome. Individuals using these devices must travel in the same direction as the other skaters. Attendants/helpers are welcome to assist individuals however they must wear skates. |
