Welcome to the Office of Information and Legislative Services. In some context almost every Wilmot resident has or will have the customer service support of Information and Legislative Services. This Office is responsible for the following:
- Land acquisition and disposition;
- Registering delegations to appear before Council;
- Providing information and service to the public, Council, Township departments, outside agencies, businesses, media, provincial and federal governments on matters relating to municipal government;
- Informing interested parties of Township Council's actions;
- Ensuring notice requirements under various legislation are met;
- Provision of secretariat functions to the Mayor and Council including Advisory Committees;
- Kennel and dog licensing;
- Municipal lottery licensing;
- Establishing corporate agreements, by-laws and related documentation;
- Retention of corporate records;
- Conducting civil marriage ceremonies;
- Receiving petitions for municipal drains and administering the legal procedures of the Drainage Act;
- Provision of effective municipal law enforcement services;
- Returning Officer for the Municipal Election in the Township;
- Accessibility Co-ordinator for the Township
- Freedom of Information and Privacy Co-ordinator; and,
- By virtue of Office, the Clerk and Deputy Clerk are Commissioners of Oath.
The Clerk, in addition to all statutory functions, is also a Division Registrar for the Office of the Registrar General of the Province of Ontario and is responsible for the registration and recording of deaths occurring in Wilmot and the issuing of marriage licences.
