A Fire Safety Plan is a document that contains information specific to the building as it relates to building construction and fire safety equipment. It also contains fire safety information and fire emergency evacuation procedures for the occupants in the building.
It is the owner's responsibility to ensure that the Fire Safety Plan has been prepared and that it is implemented in the building. Fire Safety Plans are required to be reviewed as often as necessary, but not greater that 12 months.
The Fire Prevention Officer or Fire Chief can also order a Fire Safety Plan for a building if it does not meet any of the above requirements but in the opinion of the Fire Prevention Officer or Fire Chief a Fire Safety Plan would assit with fire safety for the building.
