Castle Kilbride National Historic Site announces 2026 Artistic Expressions of WODSS: A Juried Art Show

On May 2, 2026 art students from Waterloo-Oxford District Secondary School (WODSS) had an exciting opening of their art show, Artistic Expressions of WODSS: A Juried Art Show at Castle Kilbride.

Students from grades 9 to 12 worked in diverse media over the past school year in preparation for the show that kicked off on Thursday, April 30. At the open house, students, family, friends, faculty and the public viewed the talented artists’ works for the first time. 

During opening speeches by Wilmot Mayor Natasha Salonen, WODSS art teachers Mrs. Vasilakis and Mrs. Osborne and museum staff, students were awarded Mayor’s Choice Awards and first, second and third place ribbons kindly donated by Cassio Ribbons of Baden. 

The following pieces received Mayor’s Choice Awards:

  • Cherry on Top
  • Where the Wildflowers Bloom
  • Black Stained Glass
  • Victory of the Divine Light

The following intermediate grade pieces received ribbons:

  • First Place: Apple Painting
  • Second Place: New Beginnings
  • Third Place: Jim Carrey

The following senior grade pieces received ribbons:

  • First Place: Fishy Fishy
  • Second Place: Static Childhood
  • Third Place: Portrait

Artistic Expressions of WODSS is on display in Castle Kilbride’s Belvedere Gallery and Wilmot Administration complex until May 24. Exhibit is included through museum admission and is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
