Wilmot celebrates Recreation and Parks Month

Each year, communities across Ontario celebrate June is Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM). JRPM promotes the benefits of being active and the positive impact that recreation and parks have on our quality of life.

Access to parks and recreation helps foster personal health, strong communities and social inclusion. JRPM celebrates Ontario’s spectacular parks and recreation services and raises awareness for the role they play as a pathway to individual, community and environmental well-being.

We are excited to celebrate Recreation and Parks Month in Wilmot by showcasing the amazing options in our community. With more than 40 parks, park lands and trails, plus our indoor and outdoor programs and spaces, Wilmot truly has something for everyone!

Download the Events Calendar to see suggested activities to help you celebrate JPRM all month long. Other exciting JRMP activities include:

  • A colouring contest for kids aged 0 to 12 – win a family swim or skate pass!
  • TRY IT programs, including Step & Strength, Chair Yoga and Slow Flow Yoga – test out a recreation program at a reduced fee!

Follow along and share photos on social media using the hashtag #JRPMinWilmot.

"Wilmot is home to many recreational opportunities including the Wilmot Aquatic Centre, Mike Schout Wetlands Preserve and the Wilmot Recreation Complex,” says Chris Catania, Director of Community Services. “Our many trails and parks provide ample opportunities to enjoy nature and recreation together at no cost.”
