Wilmot Township celebrates retirements of two long serving staff members
The Township of Wilmot is celebrating the retirements of two long serving staff members. Elaine Bender and Wayne Zehr are leaving the organization this year, following several decades of dedicated public service.
Elaine started with the Township in 1994 as the Supervisor of Castle Kilbride Operations and Volunteers. Since then, she has excelled in various roles, often serving as the first point of contact for residents and visitors. Elaine’s local knowledge and customer‑friendly approach will be missed when she retires this month after 32 years.
Throughout his 40 years of tireless service, Wayne has played a key role in maintaining and improving local roads and infrastructure. Wayne will be remembered for his professionalism, strong work ethic, and service-oriented approach when he retires later this summer.
The Township thanks Elaine and Wayne for their contributions to the organization and commitment to improving quality of life for Wilmot residents.

Jeff Willmer, Chief Administrative Officer, Township of Wilmot
“It is increasingly rare that people commit their entire career to one organization. We commend Elaine and Wayne for their dedication and wish them well in this next chapter. Wilmot as a community, and the Township as an organization, have benefitted greatly from their decades of service as well as the example they have set for others to follow.”
