The Township of Wilmot and its dedicated volunteers are excited to unveil plans for the community’s 2026 Canada Day celebration. This year’s event will include new food vendors, additional inflatables and more fun for all ages!

Members of Wilmot Council discussed the Township’s proposed 2026 budget during a special meeting held on Thursday, January 29. The budget was formally tabled by Mayor Natasha Salonen on January 9, marking her first since being granted strong mayor powers.

Mayor Natasha Salonen and Councillors Stewart Cressman and Steven Martin proudly represented Wilmot Township at the 2026 Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) annual conference held from January 18 to 20 in Toronto. 

The Township of Wilmot has declared a snow event beginning at 12:00 a.m. on January 23, 2026. All on street parking is prohibited during a snow event to allow plows to clear roads safely and efficiently. Vehicles parked on the street during the snow event may be ticketed and/or towed.

Some aquatics and recreation programs hosted at the Wilmot Recreation Complex and St. Agatha Community Centre have been cancelled today due to the inclement weather.

The Township of Wilmot has made several strategic organizational changes to support leadership capacity, build internal resiliency and promote long-term stability.

The Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a flood warning for New Hamburg in response to weather conditions that have brought warm temperatures and precipitation to the Grand River watershed.

River flows in New Hamburg are expected to reach Flood Warning Zone 1 during the morning of Saturday, January 10, 2025.

Mayor Natasha Salonen has tabled Wilmot Township’s 2026 budget as part of her strong mayor responsibilities, outlined in the Municipal Act.

The Township of Wilmot is ending its Significant Weather and Snow Events, effective immediately.

Declaring the end of the Significant Weather Event does not mean roads and sidewalks are in good usable condition. It only means that the weather has subsided enough that regular maintenance timelines can be met.

The Township of Wilmot has declared a Significant Weather Event and a Snow Event starting at 5:00 p.m. today (December 29, 2025) in response to current conditions.
