With just over a month until the event, the Township of Wilmot and Wilmot Canada Day volunteers are thrilled to share the schedule for this year’s Canada Day celebrations.

On Monday, April 27, Wilmot Township Council agreed to lease nine statues of former Canadian prime ministers to Createscape Waterloo Region for the next two decades.
At that same meeting, Council also granted Createscape legal permission to place the statues in the park behind the Township Administration Complex, and to cover reinstallation costs up to $78,000. That amount will be offset by the $12,800 that has been donated to the project to date.
The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election officially opens on May 1, 2026.
The 2026 Municipal Election and School Board Election will be held on October 26, 2026. Interested candidates may file their nomination starting May 1, 2026 until August 21, 2026 at 2 p.m. at their respective municipality or for Regional Council at the Region of Waterloo.
Mayor Natasha Salonen welcomed over 100 guests to Puddicombe House in New Hamburg on Thursday, April 9, 2026, for a State of the Township event. The sold-out evening was the first of its kind of Wilmot, with ticket sales supporting the local Legion.
The Township of Wilmot is giving residents a chance to support local reforestation efforts this spring. Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, Wilmot residents can register to receive a free tree through the Wilmot Roots program.
Hours at Township of Wilmot facilities - including the Administration Complex, Recreation Complex and Castle Kilbride - will be affected by the upcoming Easter weekend.

The Lead Local: Municipal Election Candidate Engagement Event is designed to broaden awareness of the October 26, 2026, municipal election process and support individuals considering running for office. The event will take place on April 23, 2026, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum.
